Dave Stallings: Girls Basketball Coach, Seneca East High School, Attica Ohio, 419-937-7934

General Repsonsibilites as a high school coach is mainly to make sure to have appropriate practice times, if the team needs new uniforms or shoes to get with the Athletic Director to come up with the funds in order to do so. Also to be in contact with other coaches prior to and during the season to come up with game times and locations. A coach at any school is also one to make sure his/her athletes are ahead in school.

Likes of being a high school coach is being able to coach great kids year in and year out. Getting to know kids for four years and seeing them grow as young adults is always an inspiring things. Dislikes to being a girls coach is not being treated the same as the boys team, such as getting first choice on practice times and game/scrimmage schedules. The hours can be at any point throughout the day, mostly after school for practices and games. Some weekends for each as well. Since its high school it is not quite all year round. Attire for high school practice is casual, games dress up. Education for high school coach does not require a college degree but a good knowledge of the sport.

Salary range is about five figures for high school coaches. Turnover can differ depending on the success of the coach or if they were to get a new job somewhere else. Advancement could requre going back to school.

Tips: To continue in the coaching world, keep working hard and know there is room for improvement. Also if you want to get to the next level same thing along with going back to school. 

Margarita Kalmikova: Club Swim Coach, Claremont Club, Claremont CA

General repsonsibilities are to create an environment for club swimmers who want to swim all year round and compete all year round to get better. To set up swim meets around the area with other club teams to keep being competitive, as well as having fun and focusing on the fundamentals whether in or out of season.

Likes are that it is a wide group of age difference for the kids, to learn from the older kids and try to compete with them. Dislikes as being a club team the kids might not be 100% in it just because it is club. Hours can be from 5 in the morning until the sun sets depending on athletes schedule. Education for club sports can vary on the level of age groups. Basic knowledge of the sport. salary range does not go over six figures depending on the club. Turnover can vary on success and likeness. Putting your name out there can be good for advancement.

Tips:find what you love to do and do it til you no longer can. 

Jerry Hasslinger: Softball Coach. Seneca East High School. Attica, OH. 419-618-1408.

General responsibilities include keeping up with the softball field, finding the right girl to play each position, schedule games and practices at appropriate times. Helping the girls develop as players and as young adults. 

Likes include being able to coach not only the team but can do individual coaching through pitching and fielding. Being able to coach groups of girls and knowing that coaching them can help their career whether if they continue to play or not. Dislikes include not getting same treatment as the baseball team when it comes to the field conditions. Hours are mostly after school. Softball gear for attire. The pay is not much over five figures. Education for high school softball doesn't require a college degree. Any form of related experience could help whether to get to the next level or not. Turnover depends on the success and who else might want the job. 

Tips: Keep a level head, and stay focused on your career path.
